This year has passed with little to no events that would allow a bigger number of people. Imagine my excitement having found out that Gdynia Aerobaltic was going to take place. On the 22nd of August 2021 I have rushed to the Kosakowo Airport to see what the event has in store for the viewers. For the price of 50PLN, which is about 10GBP, you got an entire day of spectacular air shows. I was mainly interested in a very particular one.
Red Arrows, The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, visited Gdynia to show off their skills and watching them perform was absolutely worth getting a little bit sunburnt. The team is the public face of the service and it represents the speed, agility and precision of the Riyal Air Force. The performance was stunning, memorable and worth every penny.
Overall the airport was very well prepared for the event itself. Visitors could go to talk to representatives of different air forces (German, Turkish, Polish, English etc.), buy souvenirs from the event, take spectacular pictures of the shows and grab a bite in the meantime.
I have to admit food was the last thing I was interested in, as per usual on events as such it was overpriced and everything smelled like burnt oil and smoke. The massive plus for whoever organised the event was free water station with cold water available for all attendees.
Tips for the next year if you are interested in going to Aerobaltic? Take a blanket to sit on, make sure you have SPF with you so that you don’t end up like me (sunburnt, happy but in pain), have some food with you if you don’t feel like paying millions for burnt fries dunked in old oil and make sure you have an empty bottle of water hoping there is going to be the water station.
